چکیده

Bionic propulsion has advantages over traditional blade propellers, such as efficiency and noise control. Existing research on ray-inspired robot fish mainly focused a single type of pectoral fin bionic propeller, which only performed well in terms pure speed or maneuverability. Rarely the performance different types been compared same platform to find an optimal solution. In this paper, modularized with high-fidelity biomimetic fins novel multi-DOF propelling mechanism is presented. A kinematic model based motion analysis cownose ray introduced guidance for design. parametric geo-model established evaluated statistical data. The design fabrication process 3D soft fins, platform, also elaborated. Through experiments comparing constructed materials approaches, it was found that new made silicon rubber have better than flexible inner skeleton permeable outer skin result profile preservation hydrodynamic force interaction. prototype acquires combination high maneuverability results previous research.

A Biologically Inspired Ray-like Underwater Robot with Electroactive Polymer Pectoral Fins

This paper describes an electroactive polymer robot with ray-like pectoral fins. Electroactive polymers are materials that change their geometry in response to electric field and can be used to replace electromechanical devices. The aim of this study is to show that these materials can be used to build more complicated devices and the behaviour of these devices can be coordinated to some extent...

Bio-inspired Robotic Cownose Ray Propelled by Electroactive Polymer Pectoral Fin

The cownose ray (Rhinoptera bonasus) demonstrates excellent swimming capabilities; generating highly efficient thrust via flapping of dorsally flattened pectoral fins. In this paper, we present a bio-inspired and free swimming robot that mimics the swimming behavior of the cownose ray. The robot has two artificial pectoral fins to generate thrust through a twisted flapping motion. Each artifici...

Bio-inspired Robotic Fish with Multiple Fins

In order to improve the performance of AUVs in terms of efficiency and maneuverability, researchers have proposed biomimetic propulsion systems that swim using flapping fins rather than rotary propellers. This calls for the exploration of unique locomotion characteristics found in a variety of fish for use in underwater robots. (Sfakiotakis et. al., 1999) present a good review of fish swimming ...

Motion Control of a Three-Dimensional Eel-Like Robot without Pectoral Fins

In this paper, recent advances in the design of feedback laws for the 3D movement of an Eel-like robot are presented. Such a robot is under construction in the context of a national French robotic project. The proposed feedback enables the tracking of a desired 3D position of the Eel head as well as the stabilization of the rolling angle without using pectoral fins. We build on a previous work ...

Research on Under-actuated Flexible Pectoral Fin of Labriform Fish

The new propulsor, whose inspiration is from pectoral fins of fishes, has arisen increasing attention. To improve the performance of the existing labriform bionic pectoral fin, based on the structure and control mechanism of real fish pectoral fin, the under-actuated technology was utilized to design a new flexible bionic pectoral fin. Then, the kinematic model of pectoral fin during fish forwa...
